![]() Venable Industries was incorporated in the state of California Nov 25, 1980. The company, founded by H. Dean Venable, initially sold power controls for automatic and robotic welding. Shortly thereafter, the company began marketing frequency response analyzers for measuring stability margins of feedback control systems. The new product dramatically simplified the design task of stabilizing control loops. Acceptance by aerospace, computer, and power electronics industries was demonstrated by a client list including such well-known names as Apple Computer, IBM, Comsat, Boeing, and Teradyne. By 1983, computer-controlled versions of the test equipment were available for designers, and within a year many major aerospace, computer, and power electronics companies owned a Venable frequency response analyzer. Software was developed to provide capability for modeling and testing in the same system, so that theoretical and actual results could be compared. Automatic compensation for feedback loops and other advanced analysis features were pioneered by Venable Industries. In 1991 the company relocated to Austin, Texas. Venable welding products were split into a separate division, and this division was sold in 1993 to a Canadian company. Since that time, Venable Industries, Inc. has continued to specialize in the area it pioneered — stability analysis systems and services. H. Dean Venable retired in 1998. |
